I hope you bid 2012 goodbye with heartfelt thanks and brought in the New Year with pomp and joy. Let’s work towards meeting our resolutions at least this year 😉 and make the best of 2013.
With my first blog post of the year, I would also like to welcome you to my first BLOG HOP. 🙂
Let me extend my thanks to Mel, I meanM. S. Fowle, for inviting me to be part of this Next Big THING Blog Hop. For those of you who do not know her — Mel is a very talented woman. She is an indie author who has many books to her credit, all available on Amazon, including Nora’s Sun, a short story, that has received great reviews. Her latest work – The Sire, is scheduled for release this month. So watch out for more details to be posted soon.
Mel is also a fantastic digital artist and excels in creating eBook covers. So if you need one for your book, then you should go and check her site now! Connect with her through these links —
Now, to answer the questions that are an essential part of this Blog Hop. Since my forthcoming work is still in a nascent stage therefore I felt that I should write about Missing Mandy instead, which will complete a year of publication this January. So hurrah for that 🙂
It may seem a bit silly, but the idea for this book came from a dream I had–of a shack by a black lake, mesmerizing moonlight and the ghost of a young girl. I don’t know why; maybe it was an after thought of some movie that I had been watching earlier or a book I had read but the idea kind of stuck and when I decided to write my book, it seemed as right to develop on it. Of course, the final product does have some of these elements, but nowhere resembles the dream.
(3) What genre does your book come under?
Missing Mandy is a short story with elements of crime, mystery, romance and paranormal in it. Though there is no single genre under which you can categorize it, I personally feel that Paranormal Thriller defines it best.
(4) Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Oh.. this is a tough one.
As Danny, probably Abhay Deol. He has this guy-next-door look and is intense and yet charming. Very likeable. He would be ideal to portray Danny.
As Mandy, Asin Thottumkal. Beautiful and very talented.
(5) What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Haunted by apparitions, nightmares and strange noises in the basement of his house, would Danny ever be able to solve this mystery?
(6) Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
My book is self-published.
(7) How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I started the book sometime in April/ May 2011. The first draft was ready within three months but I spent the rest of the year in improving it and finally published it in Jan 2012.
(8) What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Actually I not really sure if there is a book with a similar story in this genre (or at least I would like to think so). There are many non-fiction books that do refer to the whole out-of-body-experience. There are equally many in the fantasy and paranormal genre that talk of the transformation of the soul through magic and teleporting, etc., but I don’t think that there is a work of fiction that gives the whole out-of-body-experience such a treatment. Of course, I may be entirely wrong about this as there are millions of books out there. 🙂
(9) Who or what inspired you to write this book?
My Mom. As she is the one who encouraged me and pushed me to complete this book and publish it.
(10) What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
My book, Missing Mandy, is about the desire to survive against all odd. It’s about belief in God, about trust and hope and reaching out to those in trouble. It’s about being human. It is a short story and as other’s have said pretty refreshing.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find authors who could take part in this blog hop. So there’s no usual list of 5 authors. If you would like to be part of this then do let me know. I will post your name here and will email the other details to you.
However , not to miss out on this opportunity, I do have some suggestions for you. The below mentioned are some other promising authors whom I follow and whose blog you can check out here:
